Reinventing “You”
Reinvent (verb) – to remake, improve or make over, as in a different form: – At 40, he reinvented himself as a volunteer. With the election of President Obama, we have the opportunity to reinvent the government. To begin the process of reinventing ourselves, we have to ask and seek to answer the following: Where are we now? Where do we want to be? How do we get there? Just recently, the US Department of Commerce announced that the US economy had been in recession for more than a year now (since December 2007).
- As a result, we have been hearing job losses, lay offs, reduced work-week or even reduced pay
- In most industries, job security is now just a myth
- We, our families, our friends…are now faced with the potential of losing our jobs, reduced income or…money is just not enough
- We are in a personal crisis
- We are thinking that…we have to do something
- Something fast
- Something I can afford
Where do we want to be?
- My conclusion: “I have to reinvent myself”
- I have to change to a better “ME” to be able to better compete in the job market
- I want to reinvent myself as a NURSE
Is Being a Nurse the Answer?
- What is the Current Status of the Job Market in the US?
- There were reports of shortage, but several thousands of nurses are still in the Philippines waiting to be employed in the US. Are nurses still in demand here in the US?

- This is only 20% or one fifth of the cost compared to tuition fees charged by local schools offering the LVN program. (Average Tuition: $25,000 to $30,000)

- Your $6,500 tuition includes your accommodation (Lodging and local transportation) during your clinical rotations to affiliated hospitals in the Philippines.

What is an LVN?
